Cocaine Treatment Center

All of our treatment programs are designed to help our patients through the difficult process of detoxification and recovery.

Cocaine is one of the most popular drugs on the market because of its association with the party lifestyle. It is a powerful stimulant that produces an intense euphoric feeling. The high is short lived causing users to continually seek for the next bump. Like all addicts, users begin as abusers but prolonged use causes the body to become tolerant and dependent on the substance, thus beginning addiction.

Understanding Cocaine Addiction

Cocaine TreatmentStudies show that 1 million Americans are addicted to cocaine and sadly, a small percentage of those are eighth graders. Cocaine is the second most widely abused drug in the world causing more than half a million visits to the hospital each year.

Cocaine has significant effects on the brain’s neurotransmitters and cognitive functioning. When users abuse cocaine, they block their brain’s natural release of dopamine. Sometimes the brain completely stops producing the pleasure enhancing receptor because it is used to receiving it from the cocaine. When the body stops producing dopamine and users discontinue their use of cocaine, they will feel extreme depression because they no longer have any pleasurable responses left in their body. People do not want to stop because they are afraid of the negative effects. Most users begin to feel suicidal and lose control of their behaviors.

Recognizing the Signs and Symptoms of Cocaine Use

A cocaine user will be extremely talkative and alert. They lose their appetite and become restless. Their heart rate becomes elevated followed by high blood pressure. Once they begin to come down from their high, they will become depressed, irritated, spacey and delusional.

Cocaine Addiction Rehabilitation

Sprout Health Texas begins every program with a detoxification process. Patients will experience withdrawal symptoms; however, we closely monitor their progress in order to adjust their medication intake and nutritional therapy accordingly.

Secondly, our patients engage in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. This therapy teaches our patients how to acknowledge their problems and create solutions.

We also offer group and family therapy. By having the family as part of our therapeutic process, we gain further insight into our patient’s health history as well as their family life and are able to adjust their treatment plans accordingly.

All of our treatment programs are designed to help our patients through the difficult process of detoxification and recovery as well as build their self-confidence and coping skills.
